    Multiple Openings: TIG Welder / Fabrication

    We are now recruiting for an experienced team of TIG Welders / Fabricators to join our busy manufacturing department, as we are in the process of expanding to accomodate customer demands. 
     

    Primary Purpose: 


    To ensure all TIG Welding projects are completed in conformance with specifications and set time scales.

    Fabrication and welding of vacuum chambers, components and sub assemblies as required in line with planned manufacturing operations to defined quality standards and timescales.

     

    Key Reponsibilties:


    • Work closely with Lead Technician to enable welding and fabrication objectives to be completed.
    • Complete projects in accordance with planned schedules aligning fabrication and welding workload with machine shop operations.
    • Quality Control evaluations. Set up and running of leak checking operations using mass spectrometry equipment, (helium leak detectors) on all chamber vessels.
    Indicative Performance Measures:

    • Manages personal workload, meeting all targets set 
    • Works well within the team, maintaining effective relationships with colleagues in the welding department 
    • Demonstrates a flexible atttude coping with changing priorities in a fast paced environment 
    • Understands the importace of quality, time frames and customer requirements

    Candidates must have the following skills and experience:

     

    • Minimum 3 years experience in TIG welding 
    • TIG Welding (Ideally working with Mu-Metal and Stainless Steel) 
    • Established skillset in metal fabrication and wedling including the use of precision measuring equiment 
    • Able to read specified drawings 
    • Comfortable working to deadlines set by lead technician 
    • Basic knowledge of turning would be an advantage

    Manual Miller

    We are now recruiting for a Manual Miller to operate manual mills or lathes to produce high tolerance piece parts and components used in UHV end products.

     

    Key Responsibilities

    • Meet deadlines for internal and external customers
    • Clocking on works orders to initiate start of job and clocking off works order to show job completion
    • Improve efficiency by working to reduce set-up and ensuring accurate, efficient work output
    • To perform other duties from time to time, as may be required by the Company
    • Ensure tidiness and physical appearance of the workplace is maintained
    • Ensure adherence to HS&E policies

     

    Skills & Experience: 

    • A proven track record of understanding how to use machines and problems associated with machining different shapes and sizes of components
    • Ability to read engineering drawings and operate manual machines.
    • Must understand requirements of On Time Delivery both internally and externally
    • Have an understanding of how parts/material will react after and during machining to be able to foresee potential problems before they arise.
    • Ability to prioritise projects throughout team to achieve targets incorporating CIT, (call in time / Overtime).

    Fabrication Fitter/Assembler

    We are now recruiting for a Fabrication Fitter/Assembler to join our expanding Chambers team! 

     

    Key Duties / Responsibilities of the Fabrication Fitter/Assembler:

    • To assemble and test vacuum chambers and other components as necessary
    • To finish components to deliver a high-quality surface that is free from defects.
    • To perform test and inspection operations on Chambers.
    • To complete visual checks and quality finishing of vacuum chambers
    • Set up and running of leak checking operations using mass spectrometry equipment, (helium leak detectors) on all chamber vessels.
    • The Clocking of Works order to initiate/complete operations
    • Meet deadlines for internal and external customers
    • To perform other duties from time to time, as may be required by the company
    • Ensure tidiness and physical appearance of the workplace is maintained
    • Ensure adherence to HS&E policies

     

    Essential Skills & Experience:

    • Finishing/fitting/assembly experience required, ideally in UHV/HV industry
    • Fabrication assembly fitting experience (desirable)
    • Read and understand Engineering drawings
    • Ability to work with high quality finish components
    • To be deadline driven without comprising Quality
    • High attention to detail
    • To work under own initiative
    Qualifications:
    • An experienced General Assembly/Electrical Assembly/Instrumental Assembly/Fitter
    • Minimum ONC in mechanical engineering discipline (or equivalent)
    • Accredited craft apprenticeship specialising as a fitter desirable

    • Experience of a manufacturing environment
    •  Knowledge of ISO9001 and process control methods

    Quality Inspector

    We are now recruiting for a Quality Inspector to join our busy Quality team. You will be responsible for measuring, inspecting, testing and validating various components and assemblies to specification. You will be recording information to drive improvement in quality performance and identifying root cause to prevent failures and be our champion in maintaining quality standards across the business.

    Key Duties / Responsibilities of the Quality Inspector:

    • Measure and visually inspect components and assemblies to drawing using a variety of metrology equipment including the use of Faro Arm (CMM) equipment.
    • Test and validate components and assemblies using a variety of test equipment.
    • Visually inspect welds.
    • Ensure any defects and features not to specification are recorded through the non-conformance process and corrective actions and root cause are established to correct errors and prevent future occurrence.
    • Visually inspect finished goods to ensure compliance to specification and being the champion for ensuring the required quality standard is delivered to our customers
    • Work with various individuals and teams to improve processes to manufacture product right first time.
    • Update key performance indicators and metrics to drive quality improvement.

    In order to be successful in this role it is essential that you have:

    • Experience working to ISO 9001.
    • At least 3 years’ experience working in a machine shop or similar manufacturing environment and possess a good understanding of Quality and Process management tools and methodology. Examples including 5S/6S, flowcharts, VSM, Kaizen, Pareto, QCPC, SPC, AQL, FMEA, 8D, Cause & Effect, Ishikawa, 5 whys etc.
    • Experience of using CMM or Faro Arm devices and proficient with a range of metrology equipment typically used in machine shop environments.
    • Able to read and understand technical drawings and engineering specifications

    Desirable Skills and Experience:

    • Knowledge or experience of welding and fabrication processes would be beneficial
    • Previous experience of working in the vacuum industry would be advantageous.
    • Qualified to BTech/HNC/HND level in a Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing discipline.

    Production Planner

    We are now recruiting for a Production Planner to join our busy Purchasing and Planning department on a permanent basis. 

    Key Duties / Responsibilities:

    • Maximises our Shipping Performance and achieves our On-time Delivery Goals.
    • Take Ownership of, and plan all products through Manufacturing Cells.
    • Maximise use of the order management system and ensure visibility of all orders.
    • Identify critical items and issues, and resolve them.
    • Investigate available capacity vs. likely load.
    • Produce and publish metrics as required.
    • Co-ordinate’s activities and processes to ensure that ‘Stock-outs’ are minimised.
    • Interacts between Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain functions.
    • This role requires effective interaction with Team Leaders to ensure On-time Delivery.
    • Ensures that all processes and procedures are adhered to.
    • Be involved in Order Input Control Process – Liaise with Sales on delivery dates, agree delivery dates prior to Order Input.
    • Drives Continuous improvement.
    • Cross-functional communication and co-ordination to minimise delays.
    • Support function for team members in production and purchasing during absences.

    Essential Skills and Experience:

    • ERP planning experience is essential.
    • Excellent communication and negotiation skills are essential.

    • The ability to make decisions within guidelines and take responsibility for these is essential.

    • 5+ years Production Planning system experience.

    Product Engineer

    We are now recruiting for a Product Engineer responsible for one or more of our product ranges to be an integral part of the Engineering team ensuring our products are delivered on time, to specification and within budget and to the best DFMA principles.

    Have you got demonstrable experience in CAD Design / Drawing and using this to provide manufacturing engineering support?
    Are you great at project costing, quotation and root cause analysis?
    Do you have a background in design engineering and experience in Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA)?

    This could be the opportunity for you!

    You will be responsible for owning the full lifecycle of one of our product ranges including Product Development, Product Maintenance, Custom Design, NPI and Manufacturing Support:

    • Maintain project management processes and deliver development projects on budget and time
    • Perform feasibility study on select NPI’s
    • Providing manufacturing engineering support for the design and development team
    • Locate new and maintain existing supplier collaboration partners for Product Developments
    • Ensure all data is provided to Operations in the correct format
    • Root cause engineering problems and seek to eliminate
    • Provide engineering support for quotations and technical enquiries
    • Check detail drawings to BS 8888 (308)
    • Create BOM’s and planning sheets for new products & systems.
    • Provide timely production engineering support for custom orders to agreed dead lines
    • Carry out FMEA
    • Keep up to date with technical innovation in the UHV & manufacturing areas

    Essential Skills and Experience:

    • 5+ years in a similar engineering role
    • Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA)
    • Experience in CAD design/drawing
    • Production Engineering of components and assemblies
    • ERP system familiarity including creating BOM’s
    • Project costing & quotation
    • Root cause analysis
    • Able to manage a diverse team & chair technical meetings (8D/Design reviews)
    • Need to be a naturally critical thinker (need to analyse, evaluate, and produce information to make objective judgements and recommendations.)

    Desirable Skills and Experience:

    • Experience of Microsoft Dynamics and MS Office products
    • Must have a degree in Mechanical Engineering or an HNC/D in Mechanical or Production Engineering

    Marketing Executive 

    We are now recruiting for a Marketing Executive to increase sales to our customers through marketing activities, you will be responsible for Social Media Campaigns, promotion through LinkedIn, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram and Mailchimp. This role is for 12 months initially but as we are growing, there could be the potential for this role to be extended beyond 12 months.

    You will manage our website content; our SEO scoring and you will be responsible for lead generation through e-mail campaigns and other lead generation tools.

    In addition to this as our Marketing Executive you will be responsible for:

    • Social Media: You will be growing our followers within the scientific community and posting weekly content to our audience to drive traffic to our website.
    • Lead Generation: You will harvest leads through our e-mail campaigns and distribute them to the relevant sales channels, you will also prepare technical presentations and content for our social media channels.
    • Website Management: You will maintain the content on our website and provide us with search engine optimisation.

    Candidates must have the following skills and experience:

    • Bachelor’s in Marketing, social media, or equivalent relevant experience.
    • Up to 5 years’ experience in a social media or marketing role.
    • Results driven.
    • Fluent in English.
