Quality Assurance Manager:

You will be managing a team of 3 in our organisation and thus experience in managing a small team and being hands on is essential. You will be responsible for ensuring the quality of all products and associated processes. Improving quality in line with customer expectations and industry standards. You will be managing our Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring ongoing development, accreditation and compliance with ISO9001.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Reducing the Total Cost of Quality.
  • Understanding customer requirements and industry best practice.
  • Leading, nurturing and inspiring your team of Quality personnel.
  • Working as a hands-on member of the quality team.
  • Ensuring all employees receive ongoing training and monitoring.
  • Maintaining, improving and ensuring the compliance of our quality manual.
  • Ensuring all BSI audits are managed and resulting Corrective actions and Opportunities for Improvement are administered and actioned.
  • Leading co-ordination of root cause analysis of quality issues.
  • Ensuring that sufficient checks and inspections are in place to verify supplied components.
  • Specifying, installing, calibrating and maintaining all required inspection and measuring equipment.

 

Skills & Experience: 

  • Be experienced working in a similar manufacturing environment, at least 5 years.
  • Have experience of managing a quality team.
  • Have experience of managing and implementing ISO 9001 and QMS.
  • Have hands on experience of mechanical measurement and inspection techniques.
  • Have a positive attitude to modern Quality practices and manufacturing processes and a willingness to adopt Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.

 

Personal Qualities: 

  • Experience using CMM or Faro Arm devices and a range of metrology equipment typically used in machine shop environments.
  • A qualification in Mechanical Engineering / Manufacturing or relevant Quality subject – ONC / HNC level.

Manufacturing Cell Leader - Chambers:

To ensure that our Chambers Cell achieves the day-to-day customer requirements in terms of Quality, Delivery and Cost. You will be controlling all chamber manufacturing and qualification from initial fabrication and machining through to vacuum integrity testing and 3D measuring. You will develop and motivate all production staff to ensure that business targets are achieved.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading and managing all day-to-day operational functions involved in the production of Vacuum chambers.
  • Supporting and leading the team from within and specifically to motivate when required to maintain workflow.
  • Ensuring that the standard work, work instructions, one-piece flow and other cellular principles are upheld.
  • Monitoring and managing the team in terms of attendance, work rate and general attitude to work.
  • Assisting in setting the team’s targets in terms of Quality, Delivery and Cost.
  • Assuming the role of Cell Technician as and when required.
  • The upkeep of all Visual Management, including standard work documentation, the QDIP board, the production target board and the cell team board.
  • Contributing and helping to drive the team’s improvement agenda.
  • Assisting the Production Manager in ensuring the that the team is working to the correct TAKT Time.

 

Skills & Experience: 

  • Excellent knowledge of manufacturing, fabrication and production assembly and test processes preferably within a high technology industry.
  • Experience of machining and / or welding.
  • Leadership and coaching experience.
  • A hands-on approach to leading the team with strong communication skills.
  • The ability to work accurately to tight deadlines under pressure.
  • A high level of organisational and planning skills.

 

Personal Qualities: 

  • Knowledge of the vacuum industry.
  • Experience in low batch low tolerance workshop environment with a good knowledge of current manufacturing processes.
  • An HNC / HND in Mechanical Engineering.

Machinists (Mills, Lathes, CNC)

We are looking for people who are skilled in either the operation of manual mills and lathes or CNC Setter/Operators to produce high tolerance piece parts and components used in UHV end products.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Meet deadlines for internal and external customers
  • Improve efficiency by working to reduce set-up and ensuring accurate, efficient work output
  • To perform other duties from time to time, as may be required by the Company
  • Ensure tidiness and physical appearance of the workplace is maintained

 

Skills & Experience: 

  • A proven track record of understanding how to use machines and problems associated with machining different shapes and sizes of components
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and operate manual mills or CNC machines, setting and operating 3, 4 and 5 axis machines to produce parts correct to drawing
  • Set tools and produce ‘First off’ parts to the correct quality - change from machine to machine at infrequent intervals
  • Have an understanding of how parts/material will react after and during machining to be able to foresee potential problems before they arise
  • Ability to produce high quality product with very low levels of waste
  • Deadline driven without compromising quality
  • 3 years minimum experience of actual machining in a production environment

Graduate Engineer – Supply Chain

 

We are now recruiting for a Graduate Engineer to join our busy Engineering team, working from our facility in Hailsham, on a permanent basis. The primary objective of this role is to identify cost reductions from the renegotiation of current supply chain to new suppliers and identify any waste within any given process.

  

Key Responsibilities

  • Procurement of samples for evaluation, and ultimate approval, working with the Quality and Purchasing teams accordingly.
  • Working closely with Operations, Quality & Engineering to drive an end savings result. 
  • You will learn to understand the commercial impacts of the suggested changes, gaining invaluable experience.
  • You will also maintain records of the saving and report the progress on each of them monthly, based on individual commodity projects being worked on.

 

Skills & Experience: 

  • A minimum 2:1 BEng or BSc in an Engineering related discipline or equivalent, ideally including a module covering Quality.
  • You should have excellent communication skills to enable you to forge solid working relationships.
  • You must have good organisation and IT skills.
  • A reasonable commute to our facility in Hailsham.

Welder / Fabricator

 

Fabrication and welding of vacuum chambers, components and sub-assemblies as required in line with planned manufacturing operations to defined quality standards and timescales. To ensure all TIG Welding projects are completed in conformance with specifications and set time scales.

  

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with Lead Technician to enable welding and fabrication objectives to be completed.
  • Complete projects in accordance with planned schedules aligning fabrication and welding workload with machine shop operations.
  • Quality Control evaluations. Set up and running of leak checking operations using mass spectrometry equipment, (helium leak detectors) on all chamber vessels.

 

Skills & Experience: 

  • TIG Welding.(Ideally working with stainless steel & Mu metal).
  • Established skillset in metal fabrication and welding including the use of precision measuring equipment.
  • Able to read specified drawings.
  • Comfortable working to deadlines.
  • Basic knowledge of turning would be an advantage.
  • Minimum 3 years experience in TIG welding.
