Senior Buyer

  • Reducing quality defects of supplied products

Mechanical Assembly Technician - Cleanroom

We are now recruiting for a Cleanroom Mechnical Assembly Technician.
 

About the Mechanical Assembly Technician role:


You will be responsible for the assembly of UHV Manipulation & sample handling sub-assemblies including pre-test data recording and QC evaluation.

Key Reponsibilties:


  • Assume responsibility for precision hand assembly of instruments in accordance with engineering drawings & manufacturing instructions
  • Carry out specialist UHV compatible instrument wiring & electrical pre-testing of instruments
  • Maintain ‘UHV clean’ process standards with all ‘in vacuum’ component parts and sub-assemblies
  • Support transition of new hardware from NPI through to routine production including writing any required manufacturing information documents & guides
  • Maintain and updating existing manufacturing instructions
  • Support the maintenance of departmental records, particularly test data, quality control information and serial numbering of instruments to provide navigable history of future service and support

In order to be successful in this role it is essential that you have:


  • Ideally a relevant engineering degree/HND/HNC e.g. Mechanical Engineering, Electro Mechanical Engineering, QBE or time served apprenticeship candidates can be considered
  • Previous experience in a high technology manufacturing environment or clean room

 

Professional Skills/ Abilities:


  • Familiarity with the production of UHV compatible devices & instrumentation that utilises electron optics & ion optics principals would be advantageous
  • Previous experience in a low volume customised product manufacturing environment is preferred. Ideally yielding a broad understanding and appreciation of precision hand fitting techniques, specialist wiring and product test procedures.
  • Resilient under pressure, able to adhere to the predetermined timescales and deadlines
  • Basic IT skills, including MS Office

Multiple Openings: TIG Welder / Fabrication

We are now recruiting for an experienced team of TIG Welders / Fabricators to join our busy manufacturing department, as we are in the process of expanding to accomodate customer demands. 
 

Primary Purpose: 


To ensure all TIG Welding projects are completed in conformance with specifications and set time scales.

Fabrication and welding of vacuum chambers, components and sub assemblies as required in line with planned manufacturing operations to defined quality standards and timescales.

 

Key Reponsibilties:


  • Work closely with Lead Technician to enable welding and fabrication objectives to be completed.
  • Complete projects in accordance with planned schedules aligning fabrication and welding workload with machine shop operations.
  • Quality Control evaluations. Set up and running of leak checking operations using mass spectrometry equipment, (helium leak detectors) on all chamber vessels.

  • Basic knowledge of turning would be an advantage

Fabrication Fitter/Assembler

We are now recruiting for a Fabrication Fitter/Assembler to join our expanding Chambers team! 

 

Key Duties / Responsibilities of the Fabrication Fitter/Assembler:

  • To assemble and test vacuum chambers and other components as necessary
  • To finish components to deliver a high-quality surface that is free from defects.
  • To perform test and inspection operations on Chambers.
  • To complete visual checks and quality finishing of vacuum chambers
  • Set up and running of leak checking operations using mass spectrometry equipment, (helium leak detectors) on all chamber vessels.
  • The Clocking of Works order to initiate/complete operations
  • Meet deadlines for internal and external customers
  • To perform other duties from time to time, as may be required by the company
  • Ensure tidiness and physical appearance of the workplace is maintained
  • Ensure adherence to HS&E policies

 

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Finishing/fitting/assembly experience required, ideally in UHV/HV industry
  • Fabrication assembly fitting experience (desirable)

Qualifications:

CNC Miller

We are now recruiting for a CNC Miller to join us on a permanent basis and assume responsibility for the setting and operating of CNC machines to produce parts correct to drawing!

 

Key Duties / Responsibilities of the Fabrication Fitter/Assembler:

  • Set and Run proven and unproven programs, adjust work and/or tool co-ordinates and correct any errors.

  • Set tools and produce ‘First off’ parts to the correct quality.
  • Change from machine to machine at infrequent intervals.
  • Fulfil training programs deemed necessary to allow efficient performance of duties.
  • Maintaining of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements.

Senior Product Engineer

We are now recruiting for a Seinior Product Engineer responsible for one or more of our product ranges to be an integral part of the Engineering team ensuring our products are delivered on time, to specification and within budget and to the best DFMA principles.

Have you got demonstrable experience in CAD Design / Drawing and using this to provide manufacturing engineering support?
Are you great at project costing, quotation and root cause analysis?
Do you have a background in design engineering and experience in Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA)?

You will be responsible for owning the full lifecycle of one of our product ranges including Product Development, Product Maintenance, Custom Design, NPI and Manufacturing Support:

  • Maintain project management processes and deliver development projects on budget and time
  • Perform feasibility study on select NPI’s
  • Providing manufacturing engineering support for the design and development team
  • Locate new and maintain existing supplier collaboration partners for Product Developments
  • Ensure all data is provided to Operations in the correct format
  • Root cause engineering problems and seek to eliminate
  • Provide engineering support for quotations and technical enquiries
  • Check detail drawings to BS 8888 (308)
  • Create BOM’s and planning sheets for new products & systems.
  • Provide timely production engineering support for custom orders to agreed dead lines
  • Carry out FMEA
  • Keep up to date with technical innovation in the UHV & manufacturing areas

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • 5+ years in a similar engineering role
  • Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA)
  • Experience in CAD design/drawing
  • Production Engineering of components and assemblies
  • ERP system familiarity including creating BOM’s
  • Project costing & quotation
  • Root cause analysis
  • Able to manage a diverse team & chair technical meetings (8D/Design reviews)
  • Need to be a naturally critical thinker (need to analyse, evaluate, and produce information to make objective judgements and recommendations.)

Manufacturing Engineer

We are now recruiting for a Manufacturing Engineer.  

The main purpose of this role will be to:

  • Provide manufacturing decision making information e.g. calculating production/material costs or supporting make or buy decisions
  • Design CNC programs using CADCAM (Alphacam)
  • Lead operations improvement activities and identify and implement best practise manufacturing methods improving quality and productivity and reducing waste/cost
  • Provide production engineering support and expertise to operations staff
  • Evaluate and recommend new methods, design changes, tooling and fixtures to reduce manufacturing and assembly time
  • Product cost reduction with process capability
  • Train and support operations staff providing expertise and create training manuals and work instructions as required

The essential skills / experience required for this role are:

  • Exposure to low volume and batch production environments
  • Knowledge of engineering components (BOMs, Ops and Routings)
  • CNC programming & editing either on the machine or via CADCAM (AlphaCAM)
  • Excellent computer skills (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, email, ERP)
  • Determined, with a high level of initiative and energy
  • Excellent communication skills

The desirable skills and expereince we would like the employee in this role to have are:
