Quality Inspector:

You will be responsible for measuring, inspecting, testing and validating various components and assemblies to specification. Recording information to drive improvement in quality performance and identifying root cause to prevent future failures. To be the champion for maintaining quality standards across the business from goods receipt through to customer delivery and providing feedback and data to raise standards.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Measure and visually inspect components and assemblies to drawing using a variety of metrology equipment including the use of Faro Arm (CMM) equipment. 

  • Test and validate components and assemblies using a variety of test equipment.

  • Visually inspect welds

  • Ensure any defects and features not to specification are recorded through the non-conformance process and corrective actions and root cause are established to correct errors and prevent future occurrence.

  • Visually inspect finished goods to ensure compliance to specification and being the champion for ensuring the required quality standard is delivered to our customers

  •  Work with various individuals and teams to improve processes to manufacture product right first time. 

  • Update key performance indicators and metrics to drive quality improvement. 

Skills & Experience: 

  • Experience working to ISO 9001
  • At least 3 years’ experience working in a machine shop or similar manufacturing environment and possess a good understanding of Quality and Process management tools and methodology. Examples including 5S/6S, flowcharts, VSM, Kaizen, Pareto, QCPC, SPC, AQL, FMEA, 8D, Cause & Effect, Ishikawa, 5 whys etc.

  • Experience of using CMM or Faro Arm devices and proficient in a range of metrology equipment typically used in machine shop environments.

  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings and engineering specifications

Personal Qualities:

  • A BTech or HNC / HND in mechanical engineering. 
  • Knowledge or experience of welding and fabrication processes would be beneficial

  • Previous experience of working in the vacuum industry would be advantageous.

Manual Machinist

We are now recruiting for a Manual Machinist to operate manual mills or lathes to produce high tolerance piece parts and components used in UHV end products.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Meet deadlines for internal and external customers
  • Clocking on works orders to initiate start of job and clocking off works order to show job completion
  • Improve efficiency by working to reduce set-up and ensuring accurate, efficient work output
  • To perform other duties from time to time, as may be required by the Company
  • Ensure tidiness and physical appearance of the workplace is maintained
  • Ensure adherence to HS&E policies

 

Skills & Experience: 

  • A proven track record of understanding how to use machines and problems associated with machining different shapes and sizes of components
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and operate manual machines.
  • Must understand requirements of On Time Delivery both internally and externally
  • Have an understanding of how parts/material will react after and during machining to be able to foresee potential problems before they arise.
  • Ability to prioritise projects throughout team to achieve targets incorporating CIT, (call in time / Overtime).
  • Deadline driven without compromising quality.
  • Capable of using the relevant measuring equipment that is suitable for the tolerance band being checked
  • Understands and works to the 5s program.

Production Manager

We are now recruiting for a Production Manager. This role includes managing and delivering all aspects of production throughout the factory. You will be working with the Production Planning, Purchasing, Engineering and Sales departments to deliver products on time and to specification. You will have responsibility for Production Staff and our Cell Leaders to ensure that their work orders are delivered on time and that the efficiencies and quality are achieved.

In addition to this, you will be responsible for:

  • Execution of the production schedule in line with customer requirements delivering quality products on time.
  • Achieving target efficiencies and set actions for improvement.
  • Driving continuous improvement of all manufacturing processes and controls.
  • Meeting on time delivery objectives.
  • Establishing and maintain up to date process documentation.
  • Evaluating operational resources building capability and develop talent to address skill gap and succession planning.
  • Contributing to the development and implementation of the Operations Strategy.
  • Effective people management managing performance and motivating staff on an individual and team level.
  • Establishing clearly defined expectations and performance criteria.
  • Working with H&S to ensure that all policies are followed and that employees work in a safe manner at all times.

In order to be successful in this role you must have:

  • 5+ years’ management / leadership in a manufacturing environment with operational responsibility in production.
  • 5+ years’ experience in precision parts in production series or bespoke process involving CNC machining, turning, milling and assembly of precision parts with practical experience of assembly techniques.
  • Comprehensive experience of managing ISO 9001, QMS and Lean processes and tools.

It would be advantageous if you had:

  • Six Sigma / Lean Manufacturing Tools experience.
  • Broad knowledge of state of the art manufacturing methods.
  • Cross functional business team experience preferred with production planning an advantage.
  • Degree or HNC / HND in Mechanical Engineering or similar.

Production Planner

We are now recruiting for a Production Planner. In this role you will be responsible for maximising our shipping performance and consistently achieve our On Time Delivery Goals. Interacting with Engineering, Sales, Manufacturing and Supply Chain to ensure all processes and procedures are adhered to within our production schedule.

In addition to this as our Production Planner, you will:

  • Order Input Control Processes – Liaising with Sales on delivery dates, agreeing delivery dates prior to Order Input.
  • Take ownership of and planning all products through manufacturing cells.
  • Maximise use of the order management system and ensuring visibility of all orders.
  • Identify critical items and issues and resolving them.
  • Produce and publish metrics as required.
  • Support the function for team members in production and purchasing during absences.

To be successful in this role it is essential you have:

  • ERP planning experience.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Engineering competence in relation to machining and assembly and a suitable level of product and organisational familiarisation is a distinct advantage.
  • The ability to make decisions within guidelines and take responsibility for these.
  • The ability to meet time frames and work under pressure is important.
  • Drive and Enthusiasm are pre-requisite.

Desirable Skills and Experience:

  • 5+ years Production Planning system experience.
  • Microsoft Dynamics AX experience is an advantage.
  • Previous exposure working in a manufacturing and assembly organisation.
  • Good analytical and numeracy skills.

Mechanical Assembly Technician 

We are recruiting for a Mechanical Assembly Technician. Your responsibilities will include the assembly of UHV Manipulation & sample handling sub-assemblies including pre-test data recording and QC evaluation.

In addition to this as our Mechanical Assembly Technician, you will:

  • Assume responsibility for precision hand assembly of instruments in accordance with engineering drawings & manufacturing instructions
  • Carry out specialist UHV compatible instrument wiring & electrical pre-testing of instruments
  • Maintain ‘UHV clean’ process standards with all ‘in vacuum’ component parts and sub-assemblies
  • Support transition of new hardware from NPI through to routine production including writing any required manufacturing information documents & guides
  • Maintain and updating existing manufacturing instructions
  • Support the maintenance of departmental records, particularly test data, quality control information and serial numbering of instruments to provide navigable history of future service and support

In order to be successful in this role it is essential that you have:

  • Previous experience in a high technology manufacturing environment or clean room
  • Ideally a relevant engineering degree/HND/HNC e.g. Mechanical Engineering, Electro Mechanical Engineering, QBE or time served apprenticeship candidates can be considered

Buyer 

We are recruiting for a Buyer. In this role you will be responsible for the procurement of raw materials / miscellaneous items whilst complying with our internal processes.

 In addition to this as our Buyer, you will be:

  • Ensuring all purchases meet the appropriate specification.
  • Researching Outsourcing opportunities, and producing justifications.
  • Raising purchase orders, progressing purchases and ensuring completion of the purchasing process.
  • Sourcing potential new suppliers/products, and submit recommendations.
  • Completing specific cost versus benefits analysis as required.
  • Co-ordinating incoming shipments within the Supply Chain process.
  • Taking ownership of your orders, and expedite them to ensure on-time delivery.

Internal Sales Adminstrator 

We are recruiting for an experienced internal sales administrator who has worked within a busy technical sales environment who has excellent customer service skills. The includes all sales processes including order and quotation management, enquiries, complaints and marketing related activities. This role represents the communication interface between the customer, agents and distributors and the company. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Quotations, receipt of RFQ and tender platform and timeline management
  • Coordinate with technical sales, engineering and manufacturing
  • Follow up quotations with customers/distributors
  • Order entry into MS AX and maintain changes driven by manufacturing or the customers
  • To initiate regular and systematic telephone follow up of customers and maintain records using the CRM system
  • General Office Admin
  • Member and back-up in the Sales Administration/Marketing Team

Skills & experience:

  • At least 2 years’ experience in a busy technical sales environment
  • Experience working in various cultures
  • Competent in Microsoft Programmes (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook)
